PATTERSON STOPS THOMPSON FROM TAKING ANOTHER

1st June 2015

Dexter Patterson The fourth round of the 2015 series was at the Whilton Mill circuit, and although the weather was again a nightmare, the sun shone for the main final. The lights went out and Dexter Patterson took the lead from his pole, Harry Thompson wanted to lead early but in doing so slowed the pace at the front allowing up to 20 drivers to be in the front pack. Taylor Barnard worked hard to get to the lead from his grid 7 slot, but as soon as he took the lead, the next bend he was eighth. Finlay Bunce was another that showed great pace with Albert Carter, Jonny Edgar, Brandon Martland, Georgi Dimitrov and Joseph Taylor. All these drivers were capable of the win, but with so much action it was impossible to call. A new driver to the series Dragan Pinsent was slowly working his way up to the front from grid 30 !. Lap by lap moving up until he got to 4th. Meanwhile the front group had a small dust up and left Thompson & Patterson clear of the rest, these two began to push away and with a lap to go Patterson made his move. It was however short lived as Thompson immediately took back the lead. Last lap and Dexter tried the same move, but Thompson looked like he had it covered for a 4th win, but bogged the kart a little allowing Patterson to drive up the inside and take his first win this year.

Dexter PattersonThompson was second and said after the race “my wins had to come to an end at some point and Dexter did a good job of beating me today”. Jonny Edgar managed a great recovery after going off to take 3rd, and Bunce 4th. Pinsent unfortunately got a place penalty for cutting the track, so Martland was 5th & Dimitrov 6th. Top privateer was Alex Walker in 12th overall.

THOMPSON DOES A HAT TRICK !

18th May 2015

LGM Series

Harry Thompson has stunned the opposition with win number 3 at only the 3rd round. This incredible youngster, drove to a high pressure win, in what can be deemed as awful weather condition. With the track changing every minute of the day, it was the pole driver Jonny Edgar who took command of the race, followed closely by Georgi Dimitrov, Thompson and Owen Marlow. These four breaking clear of the rest. Local lad Dexter Patterson showed his skill in climbing his way up to 5th place but a long way off the leading pack. By half way point Dimitrov fancied the win and took command, but with the places swopping, slowing the pace enough for the hard charging Patterson to close the gap.

With a lap to go Thompson was in the lead, Patterson moving to 4th after the drop of Marlow, Thompson did not crack under pressure, where as Patterson showed local knowledge passing Dimitrov and Edgar at the close, not quite enough time to deal with Thompson but a very strong second place. Edgar 3rd with a recovering Marlow 4th. Top privateer was Reggie Dhuy in a very creditable 9th place overall. Next stop is the Whilton Mill Circuit, can anyone beat Thompson for his 4th.
